Art of War by Anberlin (cover by John Harter)

My husband recorded this and I am a very, very proud wife. I’ve always been in such awe of his recordings, but the quality and instruments and work he put into this song has me prouder than usual.

Also, swoooooon because his voice, the strings, and the harmony at the end.

So musically talented…i love this.

If you guys like this, could you please pretty please reblog it for me? It would mean so much to me :)

So when people leave, I’ve learned the secret: let them. Because, most of the time, they have to.

Let them walk away and go places. Let them have adventures in the wild without you. Let them travel the world and explore life beyond a horizon that you exist in. And know, deep down, that heroes aren’t qualified by their capacity to stay but by their decision to return.

How can this make any sense…

How can you possibly go to sleep after that? How can you leave so many words unspoken and it be okay for you? For me its not…i need loved. I need affection, because right now i dont feel it at all. Im so numb and it hurts. I miss you so much even when youre right here next to me. How is that even possible, how can you be so far away. What happened to us baby… where did we go. Why cant we just come back.. i need that back, i need reassurance that youre still in love, that i still give you butterflies. You can go a whole day without kissing me or telling me that you love me. How? Please tell me how you can go without touching me and how you can sleep without holding me. Maybe i wilk understand then and i can learn to do it to. Because right now those urges are so strong and i feel like i love someone so much that could care less, and i dont think thats very fair. I need to be reassured because i dont know how much more of this i can take, and the worst part is you could care less whether i stay or go, and that makes me feel so small. I have nothing without you, youre all i want for my future but somethings got to give. I need more than this. It seems like a good idea sometimes to just move away and start over completely. I dont think it wouls bother you in the slightest. Stop pushing me away from you, because theres only so much of this i can take before i break completely. And im coming dangerously close to that point…

I think you need to fall in love with the wrong person. I think you need to fight and cry and sweat and bleed and fail. I think you need to have bad relationships and bad breakups. I think you need all of that so that when the right person and the right relationship comes along you can sigh with relief and say, “Ah yes. That is how its supposed to feel.
